Ruby LaVonda (Crayton) Branham, 82, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Houston, Texas. She was peaceful and surrounded by her children. Born on March 3, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas, Ruby was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ruby was known for her peaceful nature, her love for music, cooking and entertaining family events. She found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Ruby's warm and welcoming personality touched the lives of many.
Ruby worked her entire career as a Registered Radiologic Technologist, dedicating herself to this profession that spanned three states. Her commitment and passion to the profession was evident in the care she provided to countless patients and the deeply positive impact felt by many of her colleagues throughout her career. In fact, even on her sick bed she often dreamed she was working and serving her patients.
Ruby found solace and strength in her faith as she professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child and member of Our Lady and Saint Rose Catholic Church in Kansas City Kansas and more recently was a member of the Greater Star Missionary Baptist Church in Houston Texas. In her free time, Ruby enjoyed practicing her love of cooking, knitting and entertaining. She delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made everyone feel at home.
Ruby is survived by her children, Kenneth Eugene Crayton - Madison WI, Vickie Rochelle Crayton - Houston TX, Timothy Maurice Crayton Sr. - Carrollton TX, Cletus Louis Crayton Jr. - Gulfport MS, Johnny Ray Crayton - Houston TX, Joyce Elaine Chapel (Gilbert) - Spring TX, and Howard Anthony Kilgore Sr. (Trina) - Houston TX. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Massey (Theresa) Kansas City, KS, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Branham, her son Marvin Dwayne Crayton, her parents David Joseph and Esther Massey, her sisters Laurietta Carter, Eulene Howard,
Davene Kandi Gough, Corinne Massey, Gloria Douglass, Geneva Massey, Verlye Carter and her brothers David J Massey Jr. and Gary Massey Sr.
Ruby's peaceful nature, legacy of love, kindness, and her passion for life will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at 11:00am at Brookside Funeral Home at Champions located at 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy, Houston, TX 77068.
