Roy Lee Rain was born on May 10, 1932 to Jesse Rain and Lois King Rain in Camden, Tx. He was the second out of four children. During his childhood, Roy and his siblings grew up in a loving home with his mother, grandfather Ned King and Grand Aunt Ivy Tolson, in Camden. He attended school in Livingston, Tx for a short period of time where he was a quarterback for the football team. Then he went to Chester High School where he graduated in 1950.
Roy united in holy matrimony on August 4, 1951 to Berniece Barnes-Rain. To this union two beautiful children were born; Dwight Rain Sr. and Felicia Ann Rain-Scott. Roy and Berniece then moved to Houston, Tx in 1963 and purchased their first home together in 1966. The family devoted their lives to Christ and became members of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In his teenage years Roy worked for W.T. Carter, and he also worked at the Sawmill. Later, a hiring recruiter came to Camden and recruited Roy and nine others to work for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant as a mechanic. Roy worked for Goodyear from 1963 to 2001 (38 yrs.); along with many other jobs.
Roy had a love for fishing, camping, hunting, sports dash with his favorite being Little League Baseball. Most of all he loved telling jokes.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Son Dwight Rain Sr. (Pamela J. Barrett-Rain), Daughter Felicia Ann Rain-Scott. 3 sisters: Audria Mae, Anita Lynn and Dorothy Smith Brailsford Carraway. 5 Grandkids, 10 Great Grandkids, 1 Great Great Grandson and 1 Granddaughter -in-law Along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, special friend, and 3 brothers: Jesse Jr., John Russell and Eura McQueen.
A visitation for Roy will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Northside Antioch Baptist Church, 1814 Carr Street, Houston, TX 77026. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 1814 Carr Street, Houston, TX 77026. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
