Robert was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, on the 1st of July 1925, to Anna O. and August W. Schrage. He graduated from Columbia University where he earned a bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees in Chemical Engineering. His doctoral thesis, “A Theoretical Study of Inter-phase Mass Transfer” won the Clark F. Ansley Award for 1951, in the faculty of Pure Science at Columbia.
Robert joined Standard Oil in 1950, and spent his entire career with Exxon in many capacities, including two memorable years in Hong Kong with Esso Eastern. Robert married Rosemarie Criscuoli in July of 1965. In 1973, he was assigned to Houston where he retired in 1986. For the last six years, Robert and Rosemarie have been residing at Eagle’s Trace Retirement Community.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, the late August W. and Anna O. Schrage. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemarie C. Schrage.
The memorial service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 8th of March, in the Garden Room at Eagles Trace, 14703 Eagle Vista Drive in Houston, where the Rev. Mark Edmiston-Lange, Co-Minister of Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church, will officiate.
