Robert Samuel Parker passed peacefully at home in Hempstead, TX on March 19, 2023. Robert was born in Beaumont, TX on November 15, 1929 and was the only brother to three sisters. He attended Robert E Lee High School where he excelled sports, especially basketball. After high school, Robert attended the University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in accounting. Robert served in the army before coming home to take care of his mom and finish college. Robert graduated with his Bachelor degree from UT in 1958 and then started his lengthy career with the Internal Revenue Service. After over 30 years, Robert retired from the IRS in 1992. Robert lived and raised his family in Houston, TX and could often be found square dancing with his lovely wife as part of the Stomping Saints dance club. Robert always looked forward to taking their kids on an annual camping trip. From the Frio River to the beaches of Florida, he loved exploring the United States with his family. Upon retirement, Robert left city life to enjoy country living and raise cattle in Weir, TX. Through their local church, Robert was blessed with friends and fellowship. From taking up golf or playing 42, Robert always made time for fun. In 2003, Robert traded tractors for golf carts and moved to a golf course in Hempstead, TX. Notably, Robert was the best golfer in his household of two. Throughout his adult life, Robert enjoyed visiting his mother’s home on Port Bolivar where he would fish to his heart’s content and live the beach life. He loved watching four generations of his family enjoy time there on the front porch. Robert was an avid gardener and had the reputation of growing the biggest tomatoes. Although, rumor has it that he once sneakily swapped in store bought produce to play a prank on his friend. One of Robert’s favorite life passions was to sit on a porch swing and watch the world go by. From those swings he witnessed hot air balloons take flight, cruise ships sail by, and memories being made on the putting green. From city life to farm life, golf course life to beach life, friends and family of Robert can attest that he lived the exact life he wanted throughout his 93 years on earth.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter Lee & Nancy Frances Burrell Parker, and sisters Geraldine Brown and Ann Arnett. He is forever remembered by his loving wife of 65 years, Faustine Hobbs Parker; and sister Mary Sue Johnson and brother in law Gayle; his daughter, Pam Parker; daughter Penny Crane and husband Kevin; son Scott Parker and wife Diane; Grandchildren: Michael Cardone, Haley Boyle & husband Michael, Dylan Parker & wife Alex, Colin Parker & wife Hannah; and Great-grandchildren: Lake, Reef, Cove, and Briggs
