Robert Lewis was born on September 29, 1921 to Emmett and Nancy Lewis in the rural community of Hochheim DeWitt, Texas whence he was reared and educated. He was the first born of a set of twins, but tragedy came quickly. His mother and twin sister, who was named after their mother, Nancy both died. On October 26, 2016, he got a chance to meet his mother and twin sister in heaven for the first time. Robert married Rosie Lee Peoples and they had two children, Nellie Di Ann and Joe Charles, who both preceded him in death. He met and married Pearl Ruth Allen Ware and raised all four of her children, Anthony Allen (Jamie), Cathy Ware, Patricia Jones (Bill Sr.) and Beverly Jones (David) as his own. Robert worked various jobs and retired from Corpus Christi Nueces County Court House and later moved to Houston, Texas. His wife preceded him in death nine years ago and his daughter continued to care for him. His former wife, Ruth chose Maxine Bell to be her daughter and she was also very involved in caring for him after the passing of his wife. Robert was a very humble man that loved to socialize, wear his hats and sharp clothes and was known for singing hymns. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas until he moved to Houston and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he loved to sing various hymns as a soloist. Them mention he was the last living child of () siblings and has a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He already is greatly missed.
