Bob was born in Pittsburgh, PA, January 8, 1930, to the late John R. and Marjorie K. (Kimball) Gephart. He attended John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA, and graduated from Admiral Billard Academy in New London, CT. He graduated from Penn State University and proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
Bob’s career with Pfaudler Company moved his family all over the country. After retirement, he fulfilled his promise to Ruth to settle in Canandaigua, NY, to be near her family. He enjoyed every summer at his family cottage at Farley’s Point on Cayuga Lake and yearly fishing trips to Canada. He loved his Silver Sneakers exercise program at his local YMCA, especially the ladies water aerobics class where he was the only male participant. The last several years he enjoyed living in Texas with Jackie and his beloved “grand critters.”
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ruth F. Gephart, brothers Smith B. Gephart and John R. Gephart Jr., and sister Sally Gephart Killian. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Gephart, of Katy Texas, sisters-in-law Barbara Ames and Marilyn Gephart, brother-in-law John D. Killian, and many nieces and nephews who delighted in spending time with their Uncle Bob at the lake.
Visitation with the family began at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, Texas, where services began at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services with military honors followed at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, also in Houston.
In his honor, memorial donations may be made to Highland Hospice, Houston, or a hospice of your choice.
