Bob attended St. Anne’s Catholic School, St. Thomas High School and graduated from the University of Houston where he met his wife of 68 years, Mary Ray Curry. While at UH, he joined the United States Army Air Corp. After serving as a fighter pilot in WWII, the Korean War and the Air National Guard Reserves, he retired at the rank of Colonel. Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and went on to a career in the industrial valve business, starting Dwyer Industries, Inc. in 1970. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved spending time outdoors with his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ray Dwyer, son, Douglas J. Dwyer, and his parents. He is survived by his children, Diane Dwyer and husband Tom Cole, Steve Dwyer and wife Amanda, Susan Dwyer, Marianne Dwyer, and daughter-in-law Jan Cox Dwyer; grandchildren Stephen and wife Bethany, Jay, Bobby, and Jenna.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer in Houston. The memorial mass is to be offered at 10:30m on Friday, February 24 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road.
