Robert Bradshaw was born December 10, 1930 in Houston, Texas to Mary Margaret (Ladig) and Howard Alvin Bradshaw. Robert passed quietly from this earth in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 23, 2024.
Robert graduated from Milby High School in 1948 and continued his education at Texas A & M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1953 (class of 1952). He was part of the Signal Corps where he forged many lifelong friendships. While at Texas A & M, he met Louise Marie Neely at a Corps Dance at Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas (now Texas Women’s University). After an 18-month stint in Korea, Robert and Louise were married on June 25, 1955 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Soon after marrying, Brad (as she called him) and Louise moved to Alice, Texas where daughter Carrie Louise was born. Carl William was born two years later in Houston, Texas. Over the next 16 years, they lived in Lafayette, Louisiana, Houston (2 different times), Corpus Christi, and Midland. In 1976, Bob retired from Dresser Atlas and then moved back to Houston. Over the next 42 years, he worked a variety of jobs from oil field related work to driving a truck for a dry cleaners in the River Oaks area of Houston. He also spent many hours caring for his mother-in-law and his parents as they aged. Brad and Louise have lived the past 7 years at the Morada in Temple, Texas to be closer to family.
Robert, known as Bob, Bobby and Brad, was a fun man who had very simple wants. He loved to play golf, play bridge, work jigsaw puzzles, and watch TV—esp. old westerns and Texas A & M sports. He loved his family. He said he would never have made it as far as he did in life without his wife. He took interest in all the activities his grandchildren were involved in even if he could not be with them.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Mary Margaret Christine Ladig Bradshaw and Howard Alvin Bradshaw, his sister, Patsy Ruth Bradshaw Jackson, and a nephew, Bret Curry. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise Bradshaw, his daughter Carrie Blunt and husband AC, his son Carl Bradshaw and wife Gail, grandson Andrew Blunt and wife Whitney, granddaughters Anna Malek and husband Lonnie, Abigail Palomino and husband Roque, and Amanda Stowers and husband Kyle. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Madison Stowers, Sophie Stowers, Landon Malek, Logan Malek, Lauren Malek, Anderson Blunt, August Blunt, and baby girl Blunt due in March. He is also survived by his sister Carolyn Sue Curry and as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Morada for all of the care over the past 7 years, especially the past 3 years. They would also like to thank Amedisys for all of the care, comfort and guidance you have given in the past 22 months.
