Rickey Vandean Wesley, II was born March 5, 1980 to Rickey Vandean Wesley and Tula Mae Bailey Wesley at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas. Rickey accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Jerusalem Baptist Church by Reverend Robert Menefee. Rickey continued his Christian service at Northchase Community Church as a teacher of a youth group; he tutored at the after school program, was an avid Bible Study participant, taught Vacation Bible School, supervised Sunrise Service breakfast and was a cook for the church picnic. Rickey started his education at Glory's Daycare, where he excelled in Reading and Math at an early age. He then proceeded through school at Ehrhardt Elementary, Doerre Intermediate and Klein High School. His intermediate school educational accomplishments included National Junior Honor Society, Duke Talent Search Gifted Program, First Chair Trumpet and Odyssey of the Mind. In high school, he participated in the Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Who's Who Among American High School Students. Rickey was also a talented athlete. His love of sports made him outstanding in baseball, track and football. He started playing baseball at the early age of four. He continued baseball throughout high school. He became interested in football in 7th grade. His high school football awards included Lineman of the Year, 1st Team/All District, and he was a four year letterman in football. His sports interest also included high school track, where he participated in the Shot Putt. At Texas Southern University, Rickey received a scholarship to play football and the Tom Joyner Scholarship for athletes. Rickey graduated from Texas Southern University with a B. A. Degree in Accounting in 2003. While at TSU, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He obtained his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2012. Rickey started his teaching career at Klein Forest High School and Nitch Elementary in the Klein Independent School District. Currently, he was a 7th grade Math teacher and football coach at Hoffman Middle School in the Aldine Independent School District. Celebrating Rickey Vandean Wesley's home going are his parents Rickey and Tula Wesley; sister and brother-in-law Tinisha Wesley Prevost and Darryl Prevost; niece Trinity Michelle Prevost; nephew Darryn Isaac Prevost and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and very good friends.
