Rick was born on September 20, 1953 in Sedalia, MO to James William Taylor Sr. and Cynthia Judy Gorrell and eventually became the oldest of 4 siblings. His family lived in many cities including Kansas City, MO, Tulsa, OK, Chicago, IL, and Naperville, IL. Being an avid athlete, Rick would spend his time playing on the Varsity Football and Golf Team at Naperville Central High School and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1971.
Carpentry was a passion of Rick’s and he created his own company appropriately named Integrity Decks in Austin, TX. He would spend his time creating the most complex specialty decks for the Austin area and did so for 25+ years.
Rick married the love of his life, Crista, on September 8th, 2001 in Lake Jackson, Texas and the two of them would share the love and word of God together throughout their marriage.
If you knew Rick, you knew that he was a sports fan and was always cheering on Virginia Tech where his son Luke, proudly marches in the Virginia Tech Marching Band and is studying Civil and Environmental Engineering. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf.
Rick was best known for his love for Jesus. Wherever he went he would share the word of Jesus and would want anyone to know that Jesus loves them and that He would always have a place for them in heaven. Rick will be deeply missed by all who had the chance to have him in their life. He would want everyone to know that he is in heaven rejoicing, free from suffering and hindrances and that everything is going to be okay.
He was preceded in death by his father, James William Taylor Sr., and his mother, Cynthia Gorrell Taylor.
