Dick was born in Centertown, Missouri on December 8, 1943. He moved to Houston in 1978 and most recently worked at the Harris County Auditor’s Office for 25 years before retiring in 2015. A dedicated member of Wilcrest Baptist Church, Dick served his Lord with his full heart and soul, serving as Sunday School teacher and deacon for many years, and singing in the choir. He was always there to help wherever he was needed.
Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Marilyn Rhoads; his mother Mabel Rhoads of Jefferson City, Missouri; son Mark Rhoads and daughter-in-law Peggy Rhoads of Houston, Texas; son Alan Rhoads and daughter-in-law Kelle Rhoads of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons Robby, Nick, Will, and Sam Rhoads, and James Lawson; granddaughter Lacey Browning; great-grandchildren Caitlynn, Sophia, Kaydence, Shane, and Madison; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Edgar Korsmeyer of Jefferson City, Missouri; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bob Scrivner of Jefferson City, Missouri; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Dusty” Rhoads of Centertown, Missouri.
Visitation will take place at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 5:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at Wilcrest Baptist Church, 10800 Sharpview Dr., Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., with burial following at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wilcrest Baptist Church Children’s Building Fund.
