Dee and Family,
    You know how much I love you!  When you hurt, I hurt!  You were Ricky's Angle!  But he also gave you something too!  Don't be sad anymore, you will see him again, but he knows you have many, many more years here on Earth to be happy and he wants that for you!  He will always be just a talk away!  Love You!  Jean!

Ricky, love of my life, I miss you so much already!  
Most of you will remember him as the short-tempered hot head that you knew over the years.  Although he was in my life for only a short time, I would like to share with you the Ricky that I knew and will remember.
Ricky was my love, my best friend, my partner in life.  He was my rock, my strength, my safe place.  To me he was kind, gentle, loving, respectful, understanding and tender.  I fell in love with his laugh, it was contagious!  Though I didn't hear it much in the last year, I miss it so!   He never raised his voice to me or criticized me.  With him, I found out what real love is.  He taught me that love is not supposed to hurt.  He brought out the best in me and I brought out the best in him.  Soulmates to the core we shared our love of music, sports, traveling and quiet times.  He brought to my life a sense of peace that only a healthy relationship can bring.  We would fall asleep while our love songs played on the ipod all night long.  Every night the love songs played, and we fell asleep in each other's arms. That is the Ricky I knew.  I wish you all could have known that Ricky.  My Ricky.  I guess I'm the lucky one who was fortunate enough to experience that love.  When he proposed to me he used the words, “will you spend forever with me”?  Who would have known that our ‘forever' would be cut so short.
During the course of his illness, many people told me that I was an angel sent by God to love and care for Ricky during this time.  I found little comfort in that at the time, but am coming to realize that we were brought into each other's lives for a reason.  All the time I thought God brought Ricky to me when in reality God brought me to Ricky.  He was in my life to show me what real love is, and I was in his life to love him unconditionally and through unbearable heartache.  My Ricky, my forever love, who will live in my heart until we meet again in heaven.  I will love you always!

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Ricky and his family - played some sports with Ricky and did some hanging out.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones. I am so sorry to hear of Ricky's passing. I remember Ricky, Glenn and Cheri as kids when they came over to our parents house, Charles DeLong and Eloise Gage Atkinson DeLong on Pine Street in Bellaire. My sincerest sympathy to all family members and friends. God be with you all.

Gabrielle I am so sorry for your loss.  Carl told me about it and I just want you to know that I am thinking of you and praying for you and your family.   Just by reading the entries in the guest book I can tell your Dad was well loved.   You are such a sweetheart, you must get that from Dad.   Mush love and concern.

I recently met Rick's father as he has been dealing with this stress and sadness.  My heart goes out to the entire family. We are thinking of you.

To Deanna and the Gage family: I am very saddened for your loss. I met Ricky two years ago when he was a member of the Mambo Seafood softball team. That was one of the best teams ever as we won the league and the post season tournament. Ricky played a big role in our success as a team with his skills and talent at second base and his bat often leading off. Deanna, I remember you coming out to most of the games and was always supportive. His teammates will always remember him with his infectious smile. He will be missed.

Ricky, I was saddened to hear you left. I'm glad to have gotten to see you again in July and spent time talking. You were very happy and content. I'll remember all the times we spent camping and boating  as two single dads raising our kids and sharing stories at work. You left too soon but see ya again one day. ..Peace

Rick, you could not have picked a better day to graduate to angel status and let all the pain and suffering drift away.  This day will forever be a special day not only is it Paul and my 22nd wedding anniversary as well as dad's birthday but especially because it is your journey into heaven.  Although we were not with you in person we were there in spirit and always will be.  Give mom and Patsy (Paul's mom) a BIG hug for us and let them know how much we love and miss them. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

 Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
 Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
 That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
 God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

 It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

 God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not  be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I have a close connection to Ricky when he was first born and spent the night and got to babysit him when he was a newborn. I have many special memories of Ricky and his mother because she was my only sister. I took care of her kids when they were very young with my daughter Diane. I will charise all of my pictures of him and remeber all the good times we all had together.God Bless you Deanna .

The last time I saw Ricky I observed in him something I had never seen in him before.  Even though he already knew he was facing Cancer he was happy.  After so many years of being a bachelor he had found Love.  You could see it in his eyes, you could hear it in the simple way he said her name, Deanna.  We all hope for that magic feeling, the comfort that only true Love can bring.  I'm so happy that Ricky was able to find that in his life.  He leaves us, but he will never be lost.
