Richard “Dick” Huston Barker died on Tuesday, the 30th of March, 2010 in Houston. He was born in Wayne Co., Michigan "Canton Township" on the family farmland the 14th of June, 1918. He went to school in Ypsilanti and graduated from Eastern College in the Marine Reserves with his pilots license. He went to Central America to fly for T.A.C.A. Airways. Dick met his wife Joan Saunders in Managua, Nicaragua where she was flying as a stewardess. They were married on the 14th of February, 1944.
They have lived in San Jose, Costa Rica; Caracas, Venezuela; Miami; New Orleans and Corpus Christi before moving to Houston in 1960 where Dick flew for Corporate Aviation.
Dick was a Mason for sixty years and a member of Gray Lodge 329. He served as a member of the Community of Hope (Saint Luke's Episcopal Hospital) and volunteered at the Activity Center at St. Martin Episcopal Church and also served in many positions there including senior warden.
Dick is survived by his wife Joan. Sons, David and Daniel and their wives as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is to be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 9th of April, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston.
