Rebecca Salinas Cornell passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 14, 2017 at the age of 92, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Falfurias, Texas where she lived until her family moved to Galveston, Texas. Her travels lead to living in Mobile, Alabama and then Houston, Texas. This is where she began a teacher's aide position at L.L. Pugh Elementary. She embraced this with great enthusiasm and passion. She is survived by her three siblings, Rachel Salinas (Texas City, Texas), Paul Salinas (Houston, Texas) and Romana Garcia (Texas City,Texas); and her children - son, Paul Short (Mary) of Pasadena, TX and daughters, Diane Drewes of Bryan, Ohio, Zelma Sauceda (Daniel, Sr) of Alvin, Texas, and Becky Marie Cornell of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by numerous relatives that loved her dearly. A visitation will be held from 5-9 pm on Wednesday, October 18th at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale St in Houston, Texas; with a rosary performed at 7:00 pm. The family will have a private burial at a later date at Forest Park Lawndale. Memorial donations can be made to the SPCA or charity of your choice.
