Raymond Eric Dittmar passed away on March 11, 2018 with his family at his side. His passing was due to a rare blood disorder and complications, against which he battled valiantly. He was born on the 1st of April 1958 in Houston to Ray E. and Ruth V. Dittmar. Ray grew up happily in West University Place and was baptized and confirmed at Christ the King Lutheran Church there. He was a graduate of Waltrip High School, Jacksonville College (which he attended on a basketball scholarship), and Stephen F. Austin State University.
Raymond was united in marriage to Hollie Jo Huffman in Houston in June 1985. He had an interesting business career that often took him to far-flung places in the US and internationally. As a software specialist, he was employed by several corporations. He treasured his relationships with his fellow employees. Raymond enjoyed golf and fishing, and the times spent at the Dittmar lakeside cabin near New Braunfels and at the Huffman ranch near Palestine.
He is survived by his parents, his wife Hollie, children Evan Dittmar and Carter Dittmar of Katy, his brother Jan Michael (Karen) Dittmar in Arlington, his brother-in-law Hal Huffman in Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Houston, Dallas, Plano and New Braunfels.
The family wishes to especially express their enduring gratitude to the many of Raymond’s friends who voluntarily gave their aid and support to Raymond and Hollie during their dual Harvey-related and health ordeal in the past months.
Donations in Raymond’s memory may be made to the memorial fund at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2353 Rice Blvd. Houston, Texas 77005 or to a charity of ones’ choice.
Friends are invited to celebrate Raymond's life at a memorial service on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway (IH 10 @ Eldridge) in Houston beginning at 12:30 PM.
