Ratana Brown Benn

Ratana Brown Benn of Livingston, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at the age of 60. He was born on July 15, 1963 in Ta Keo, Cambodia. He immigrated to the United States in 1981 where he grew up in Jamestown, Missouri.

He worked as shipping operator at Kraft for 30 years and temporarily as a truck driver. He moved to Houston, Texas in 2018 where he worked as a delivery driver for Ford.

Ratana absolutely loved fishing! Crystal Beach and the Seawall at Galveston Beach were his favorite fishing spots. He also loved spending time outside gardening and repairing the house. He loved to travel with his wife and dogs everywhere.

He is preceded in death by his mother Phon Mam.

He is survived by his wife Sophear Benn, son Sokcheaph Benn, and daughter Chanthra Scharer and her husband Jacob Scharer and their son Elijah.

A favorite memory was the Benn/Tout family’s vacation in 1997 to Florida. They drove to Stone Mountain, Georgia to visit Lisa Sam-Nguyen in Jacksonville, Florida. They later drove down the coast of Florida and visited numerous beaches. Sophear’s favorite memory is traveling with him when he was a truck driver and sightseeing. He also has a lot of great memories with Srey Leak and Sophorn Mao and loving granddaughter Sonita.
