Ralph Clay Ward, 67, passed peacefully on June 4th, 2020. He was born in Houston Texas on August 23, 1952 to John Clay Ward and Laura Costa Ward Chronister. Ralph is survived by his sister in law Cathy Ward, nephew John Clay Ward, great grandniece Jennie Ward, and Cousin Joyce Rodrigues. Ralph was also preceded by many life long and caring friends.
Ralph attended grade school at Garfield and Freeman Elementary, then South Houston Intermediate before he graduated from South Houston High School in 1970. He also attended Southwest Texas State University in 1971-1973 where he received his Associate degree.
Ralph started his working career in various jobs including Evolution Tape and Records before becoming an offshore drilling pipe inspector. He then worked at Wilber Smith and Associates as an assistant to traffic engineers that were helping build our city. After these jobs he moved to his final career that he loved and enjoyed at Freedman Meat Distributors. His job as inside sales lasted over 15 years selling to various grocery stores and meat markets throughout the Houston area. During his working career many of his colleagues became close friends.
Throughout his life he enjoyed being around his family and friends. Ralph was a devoted Houston Texans and Houston Astros fan. He enjoyed the outdoors including the beach and Texas Hill Country. He liked his concerts and enjoyed his music, especially when he was driving his fast and fancy cars. He is loved and will be dearly missed by all who regarded Ralph as a good man. He was authentic in his own way. His kindness and the giving person he was will truly be missed because of his well-known trust, loyalty, persistence, quick wit and kind heart.
His family and friends would like to extend their thanks to the extraordinary team of doctors, hospice staff, nurses and caregivers throughout his time of need. A special thanks to Dr. Ruth Wintz, his Hospice nurse Amy, and true friend Jack Millard and Joyce Dushman.
