R D (Don) Barnett, age 73, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on June 6th, 2021. He was born in Idabel, Oklahoma on February 3rd, 1948. He grew up amongst a large extended Native American family, both Central Cherokee and Choctaw, roaming the hills along the Glover River.
He attended school in Wright City where he was known as a star athlete in basketball. Afterward, Don entered the US Army, where he spent time stationed in Germany and achieved rank as a specialist in the Special Forces. Later he was married to Rosalie, and this year would have been their 50th anniversary. Don was a very gifted carpenter/builder and had an over 40yr career in construction.
Don was a member of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was a lifelong Christian who lived out his faith by serving others. For Don, family meant everything and he spent his life serving and staying connected to them, always sharing his Christian values, Native American heritage, and cheerful humour.
He is preceded by his daughter, Katrina Marie. He is survived by his wife Rosalie, son Aaron, daughter-in-law Linda, son-in-law Nathan, his brother Tony, and sister Sandy. He had five grandchildren, Sarah, Stevie, Taylor, RaeLynn, Jonathan who he loved so much. He had many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him. R D Barnett will be missed ever so dearly and we love him forever.
