I remember all the time when we would have parties or just going to welas house me and my cousins would always want to keep eating and our moms would tell us we had enough and wela would sneak us outside to the back porch and feed us homemade rolled tortilla with butter and tell us not to listen to our moms 😇 

My grandmother she was not but a women that I came to care for and even have a loving affection for ,she was wonderful loving and a very kind hearted grandmother that accepted any one without judgement or prejudice opened her home and heart to any one that came to her home ,this women I came to call grandmother and not once did she correct me instead she opened her home ,arms and kindness to me as if I were one of her own I truly enjoyed making her laugh and smile she will be missed by her family dearly but she will also be missed by a lot of others that we can say became her extended family . que dios the aguarde y the de su luz  abuela petra te bamos extranar .

I am so lost to where to start with what I like to say.. I have a lot of wonderful memories of her. Like her getting up so early to cook making her homemade tortillas de harina that we all loved. She would tell us not to get any to wait till we eat but we never listen we will get some we couldn’t never wait. She had love for all her kids an her grandkids and great grandkids.. She was a second mom to my sisters an me. She took care of us like if we was her own kids. Even though all of us grew up an had our own kids she always wanted everyone around. She had a big heart an even when she berly had any space at her home she helped out a lot especially me when I had nowhere to go. She let my kids an me stay at her home as long as I needed. Never judge a sole never complain on nothing as long as she knew one was ok she was happy with that. She always wanted everyone together cuz we are family an we belong together. This wonderful grandma Petra Lopez is an was one of a kind. She is being miss dearly and left a whole lot of memories. Ella es y siguira siendo una Bella amada gran senora. Ella era el corazon de nuestra family. Sin Ella Estamos un poquito perdidos pero ella esta onde la a llamado diosito. Pelio una gran bataya y lucho duro. A qui los ke damos con el amor ke los dio y todas las memorias ke tenemos de ella... abuelita te amo te amare para Siempre.. un dia los volvemos a mirar.. ke en paz descanses mi mama mi abuelita mi Bella senora Petra Lopez... te keremos muncho mid hijos y yo .... tu chelly cuidare mis hijos y les dare el amor como tu los ensenaste.. tu “Anthony” Javier, “Omar” Robert, “Panchito” Jose, & Mija chelly chikita Clarissa te amamos.

Wela & Welo ..........amazing true love and powerful woman she was an will be remembered an missed dearly. She fought a good fight lived a beautiful life an will leave footprints in everyone’s heart. This woman was loving caring an always wanted all her kids an grandkids around. For everyone to get along an to love one another. She would bring peace an joy and love that’s how we will remember such a beautiful woman

Just wanted to share something with you all this is my wela Petra Lopez she passed away this Sunday at 2:30 am this is a little hard for me but I’m trying to hold it together for everyone else my wela passed away in the comfort of my home last seeing her family her husband her grand children, this woman will be missed and is being missed dearly my wela took care of me and my siblings since we where very little most memories we have growing up was with her and my Welo me and my siblings we where the first grandchildren she had for a while we got a chance to enjoy her taking us to the bayou to pick berries To make jelly it was so delicious, taking us to downtown on metro being with us at lake Houston on Easter she would read bible scripts to us and sing to us I’m guessing she wanted us to believe in god and Jesus Christ because of her we went to church every Sunday getting picked up on the little van and bus to take us to church there was a lot of churches my wela and Welo went to back then my wela opens her heart to a lot of people and a lot of family there was so many kids in the neighborhood that will call her wela and they where just neighbors she never judged all she wanted was for us to get along and spend time with her we all miss her so much and are missing her so much the loving caring happy woman she is and will always be love u wela so much one day we will see each other agin not to soon but one day

No matter what was going on she made sure to teach us to love one one another and to see the good in everyone.

I will always remember every time we had the chance to go to "Grandma's house" and the big bright smile you would give us when we were there.

Forever and ever in our hearts, much love Wela. 

I remember when my Wela took me and my sister to search for berries to make jam. It was kind of dangerous lol but we loved walking and spending time with her. We loved how sweet she made the jam and we ate and ate. My Wela might be gone but she is in a better place and her memory will live in me forever.
