Peter Yul Lee

On Friday, July 23, 2021, Peter Yul Lee, loving husband, father of four children and beloved grandfather (Halbi) to eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren passed away peacefully at the age of 82. He was born May 20, 1939 in Gunsan, South Korea and was the third child, and second son out of six children.

Peter married the love of his life, Kyung Ja Lee in 1963. The couple immigrated to the United States in 1977 to give their family better opportunities and settled in Houston, Texas, where they raised their four children.

Peter was the heart of the family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and recently great-grandfather. Family was his life and he worked tirelessly to ensure that they were always well taken care of and that they were all able to pursue their life passions.

He enjoyed his career as a talented French pastry chef and entrepreneur and had a professional career of over 55 years. He was a true gentlemen, always thinking of others, as his colleagues will attest, whether at work or in his personal life. Over the years he made many close friends and showed the utmost respect to anyone, regardless of social status. He never met a stranger and wouldn’t hesitate assisting anyone in need. Peter was a lifelong, faithful Catholic and an active member of the Saint Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church.

Peter is preceded in death by his wife Kyung Ja Lee and survived by his four children: Tina and husband, Louis; Linda; David and wife Kim; Lisa and husband, Sam; and his grandchildren; Ashley and husband, AJ; Amber and husband, Tanner; Patrick, Michael, Sierra, Hannah, Daniel, Ava, Elias, Luke and Peter (named in his honor), and his great-grandchildren Presley and Carter.

Peter was much loved by family, friends, church members and colleagues and will be dearly missed by all.

A visitation for Peter will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 from 7pm to 9pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77070. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 12pm to 1pm at Saint Andrew Kim Catholic Church, 1706 Bingle Road, Houston, TX 77055. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
