Paul Tooman made his transition to his heavenly home and into the arms of his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Fran, on January 1, 2011. Paul was born in Marlow, Oklahoma on February 23, 1918. In addition to Fran, he is preceded in death by his parents, Esta and James Tooman, sisters Edith and Pauline, brothers Martin, Wilfred, Phillip and David, and son, Gary. Paul leaves to cherish his memory: daughters Paula King and Janet Tooman; granddaughter, Sarah Mesa, great grandchildren Briana and Christian Mesa, loved in-laws, Vern King (spouse of Paula), and Gregory Mesa, M.D. (Spouse of Sarah); brothers James Tooman and Denny Mitchell, and a host of cherished friends. Paul proudly served his country during WWII as a Major in the Army Air Corps, flying P-38 Lightning aircraft. He served 8 months in combat duty in North Africa and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with eight Oak Leaf clusters. In 1952, he received as BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
Paul had a deep love of family and church. He was a long time member and deacon at Willow Meadows Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, and filled the homes of family with beautifully crafted furniture. The family wishes to especially thank the nurses and staff at University Place for their care over the past two years.
