Patsy Ann Isley

Patsy Ann (Covey) Isley, 87, passed away on June 10th at her home in Houston. Pat was born on September 26th, 1933, in Ore City, Texas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a longtime resident of the Spring Branch area.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Dorr Isley, whom she was married to for 54 years, her parents Leta Mae (Cornett) Beatty and Monroe Covey, and her in-laws Lloyd and Elizabeth (Kassmer) Isley. She is survived by her daughter Laura Isley, daughter Beth Wiseman Mackey and husband Patrick, grandson Eric Daniels and wife Mimi, grandson Cory Wiseman, great-grandson, Cory John (CJ) Wiseman, her best friend Susan Eda, her loving kitties, the Springwoods Canoe Group, and her other whitewater paddling friends.

Pat taught adults, youth groups, Girls Scouts and Boy Scouts canoeing, kayaking, and swimming since 1975. She was the leader of the Beginner and Advanced Spring Woods Girl Scouts Canoeing Interest Groups and a member of the Carolina Canoe Club since 1978. She was a Red Cross Basic River Canoeing Instructor Trainer and an American Canoe Association Whitewater Canoeing Instructor Trainer. She and her husband, Richard, were former members of The Houston Canoe Club and prior owners of PAR Canoe Outfitters. Pat participated in several annual river cleanups for decades. She was happiest when she was on the river or spending time with her family. Pat also enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader. She worked for and retired from the Spring Branch Library Processing Unit.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 16th, at Advantage Funeral Home, 7010 Chetwood Dr., Houston, 77081. Visitation/Viewing will be from 2-3 p.m. followed by the funeral from 3-4 p.m. Afterwards, those who are interested are invited to gather at Logan’s Roadhouse at 12950 NW Freeway, Houston, 77040, to continue celebrating Pat’s life.
