Patti was born in Crookstown, Minnesota on August 27, 1936 to Thomas and Alice Kappler. She was the eldest of three children. When Patti was four years old, her family moved to Port Austin Michigan, where she had many fond memories of her childhood enjoying the shoreline of Lake Huron with her sister Kay and brother Phillip. At the age of eleven, Patti experienced the loss of her father. After a few years, Alice and the family relocated to Kansas, where Patti graduated from high school and attended Mount St. Scholastica College, known as “The Mount”.
Following her college years, Patti started her career in education as a Kindergarten teacher in Kansas City, Missouri. It was there that she met her beloved husband, James Paul McNulty through mutual friends. They were married on November 19, 1960 and embarked on a wonderful life together including celebrating their 60th anniversary prior to Paul’s passing in 2020.
Patti and Paul made Kansas City their home in the early years where they were surrounded by family and friends. They were blessed with two children, Paula McNulty Kasinger and Mark Gerard McNulty. In 1973, the McNulty family moved to Houston, Texas, where they established new roots and created lasting memories. In Houston, Patti was a devoted parishioner and active servant at Prince of Peace Catholic Community for 50 years. Even after Paul’s passing, she faithfully attended mass nearly every Sunday, with the support of her dear friends Bill and Beth Haggerty.
After raising her children, Patti returned to work as a registrar and college admissions counselor, helping high school students with the college application process. Education was important to her and she assisted countless students with their path to higher education.
Family, friends, and faith were at the core of Patti’s life. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or provide a comforting presence. Patti and Paul will forever have the legacy of always being there when you need them.
Patti had a deep appreciation for her family’s Irish heritage and enjoyed celebrating it with her loved ones. Her St. Patrick's Day parties became a cherished tradition, filled with laughter, joy, and food.
Above all, Patti cherished her role as “Granny” and spending time with her five grandchildren, who had a special place in her heart. Whether it was babysitting, attending sporting events, joining in celebrations, or traveling to visit them around the world, she would always be there to offer support and encouragement.
Patti leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her daughter, Paula McNulty Kasinger, and her son, Mark G. McNulty, and wife Janet Lee McNulty. Patti's memory will forever reside in the hearts of her five adoring grandchildren: Tyler Kasinger, Travis Kasinger and wife Haley Muller, Will McNulty, Patrick McNulty, and Mary McNulty. Patti was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
A memorial service to celebrate Patricia's life will be held on June 16, 2023, at 10:30 in the Mary Chapel at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church Mercy Ministries.
"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
