Formerly of Beaumont, she was born in Tyler on the 8th of July 1929 to Harvey and Sylvia Agee Mullen.
Pat attended and graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Class of 1946 and Lamar University, Class of 1948. A former member of Bering Drive Church of Christ and Westbury Church of Christ, she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Pat was a consummate lady and musician. She was about beauty and excellence. She was blessed with a beautiful mezzo soprano voice that won and warmed the hearts of everyone that heard her. "Patsy Mullen" was a disciple of Eloise Milam, director of the famed Melody Maids in Beaumont. It was Eloise, along with her mother, with whom Patsy credited her poise and Christianity. The Melody Maids performed on tours for the soldiers during World War II and Pat loved each and every trip.
After the war, she married her "soldier" from the greatest generation, Leonard F. "Dave" Davidson upon his return from Europe. They were married for 65 years. She and Dave met while attending Lamar College. Dave was by her side each and every day the last few months during her illness.
After moving to Houston, while raising her family, she continued her singing career. She sang as a soloist with The Classics, a professional female vocal ensemble for many years, performing all over Houston and surrounding towns and even toured Europe singing in five different countries. Pat also sang in a two woman show, “Two's Company,” entertaining many groups in the area. She was a member of the Treble Clef serving in many positions including President and was a soloist many times each year always with new and exciting music. She loved learning new pieces in many genres from Arias and Sondheim. She was a guest soloist with the Grace Presbyterian Choir, singing in the women's' ensemble and on concerts including a trip to the United Kingdom for a church music festival. She also sang with the Houston Symphony Chorale as a soloist.
Pat was also a teacher. She not only taught teenage girls to sing, but how to be real ladies.
Not only did she love music, she loved reading scripture at her church. She loved cats. She loved to hold them, sing about them and sleep with them. Her definition of relaxation was a good book and a cat purring in her lap.
She loved stimulating conversation around religion, politics, current events and history. She dearly loved her family and her friends. She also loved current fashions and color, her favorites being purple, pink and blue. She will be missed by so many of us. The Angels are rejoicing to receive a voice like Pat's to add to the Heavenly Choir.
Pat is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Mullen; mother, Sylvia Agee Mullen; brothers, William "Billy" and Harvey Mullen; sister, Margaret Dennis and her husband Dan; son, D. Scott Davidson; nephew, Lance Cpl. Dan Michael Dennis, USMC.
