Pablo was born February 26, 1933 to Antonio and Guadalupe Rodriguez, in Coahuila, Mexico, the youngest of seven. He grew up working on the family ranch, then moved to the US after marrying his beloved wife Bertha Alicia. They spent time in Colorado Springs, then Harlingen, Texas, finally settling down in Houston once their daughters were born. Family was very important, so visits to Piedras Negras were a regular thing.
Pablo was a truly gifted woodworker, with which he blessed many family and friends, in addition to his life career as a carpenter, spending many years building custom homes in the Woodlands, as well as several areas throughout Houston. Anyone who has benefited from his furnishings has a treasure to keep. He always loved his work, wanting to inspire the joy of loving what you do to others.
Pablo loved sports, especially baseball! He supported his home team Astros, and was so happy to see them win their second World Series, even from his hospital room. He could always be found watching his favorite sports on TV, but in his younger years he regularly took the family to the Astrodome for ballgames.
Pablo loved to read, he loved listening to a wide variety of music, (but lately favored country music), and he loved keeping fit. He would regularly take long walks, which he kept up as long as he could. He loved sharing meals with family, especially grilling!
Pablo is preceded in death by his wife Bertha Alicia, his sisters, brothers and parents. He is survived by his daughter Laura Dunning, son-in-law Sam Dunning, daughter Lucy Sabol, son-in-law Scott Sabol, grandchildren Paul Dunning and his wife Audrey Hamoy, Hannah Dunning and Mary Alicia Sabol, as well as nieces, nephews and brother-in-law Ernesto Algaba and his family. He loved sharing stories about his family and his friends, whom he cherished.
He was a quiet, gentle, honest and devoted husband, father, friend and gentleman. He will be sorely missed, but the joy of his reunion with his beloved wife can only be imagined ❤.
