Freddie Lee Odessa Myers was born in Seven Oaks, Texas on March 25, 1934 to the proud parents, Mattie Kibble and Lott Myers, Sr. Later the family moved to Corrigan, Texas where they resided for most of her early years. As she entered her teen years, the family relocated again to Lufkin, Texas where she attended Dunbar High School. During this time her father answered his call to the ministry and became Reverend Lott Myers, Sr. Although her father was a minister, it was later in her adult life that she gave her life to Christ. She was an active member of Mount Horeb Church for many years afterwards. At the age of 20 she met and was united in holy matrimony with Otis Lamb on July 4, 1953. Through this union 2 children were born, first a girl in 1954 (Beverly) and then a boy in 1958 (Louis). The family relocated to Houston, Texas in 1963 where the employment opportunities were more plentiful for the couple. Most of Odessa's family followed suit and joined her in Houston later, including her parents. They all joined a church in the 4th Ward, called Bible Way Baptist Church, where they were members for many years afterwards. In 1968, on October 4th, Odessa was married to Willie G. Allen, Sr. No children were born with this union. Her 2 children, along with his 5 children, formed a sort of "Brady Bunch" blended family, which brought her many joyful, as well as, challenging days ahead. In spite of the sometime difficult adjustments she faced, she never gave up and always supported and encouraged her children and spouse. Ms. Allen is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Lott Myers, Sr. and Mattie Kibble Myers, her eldest sister, Ms. Willie Mae Gordon, and her two brothers, L.J. Myers and Lott Myers, Jr. Left to cherish her memories are four sisters, Hazel Lee Powell of Lufkin, Texas, Mattie Faye Roberts, Emma Lois Burns, Evelyn Bell, all of Houston, Texas, and one brother, Daniel Myers of Los Angeles, California. She also leaves two children, Beverly Joyce Collins (Clyde Anthony), and Louis Edward Lamb (Wanda Lynne): one grandson, Terrick James Louis Edward Randolph: four great-grandchildren, Josue' and Jeremias Iraheta, Aliyah Garcia and Terrick Randolph, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
