Nevelle Allen Danner, 91, was born January 26, 1923 in Glenwood, AR and passed peacefully from this earthly life to be with our Lord November 24, 2014 in Kingwood, TX. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Gene Danner; her parents, Addison Allen and Ellen Allen Brooks; brothers, Nick Allen and wife Roslyn, Olaf Allen, Eugene Allen; sister, Clarice and husband M. B. Brockman.
Nevelle is survived by her daughter, Judy and husband Bob Williams; granddaughter, Danna and husband Peter Frey; great grandchildren, Taylor Greer, Christopher Frey, Elizabeth Frey; sister, Charlene Etherton and husband Gordon; sister-in-laws, Billie Allen, Cookie Allen, Lucille Danner Miller; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Nevelle graduated High School in Cotton Valley, LA in 1940 and Nursing School in Oklahoma City, OK in 1945. Gene and Nevelle were married on Oct, 16, 1943 and upon his return from WWII, they resided in Vivian, LA where he began work in the Petroleum Industry. In 1949, he was transferred to Levelland, TX, where Nevelle practiced nursing as a Registered Nurse for 15 years and taught Nursing at South Plains Jr College for 10 years. They also lived in Ulysses, KS, Cairo Egypt, Denver, CO, Sweeny, TX and enjoyed many summers at their mountain home in Ruidoso, NM.
In 1986, after retirement, Nevelle and Gene moved to Kingwood, TX and were faithful members of First United Methodist Church, Humble. Nevelle enjoyed many years in the Believers and Doers Sunday School Class, Garden Club, and helped to organize the mature adult fellowship known as “TNT”. She also enjoyed cooking & baking, reading, studying the Bible, teaching, traveling and collecting antiques.
Throughout her life, Nevelle was committed to caring for others, her faith in God, her love and devotion to her family and her commitment to her friends and neighbors will continue to inspire us all.
Burial will be Tuesday, December 2, at 2:00 pm in the VA Houston National Cemetery. Arrive by 1:30 pm, at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, (adjacent to the cemetery). A car procession will form and an officer will lead us to the site of the service.
