Myrtle was a devoted wife and faithful friend. A selfless mother, she always put her childrens’ needs before her own, supporting and encouraging them throughout all of life’s adventures. She was a talented beautician, a homemaker, and an amazing cook who enjoyed whipping up a feast for friends and family. She was compassionate, sweet, and had a sense of humor that would draw a smile from a stranger. Most of all, she treasured being grandma to her grandchildren and mama to her daughters and her dogs. Her pets brought her so much joy, and Myrtle lit up when she’d talk about them, particularly her precious Angel.
Baptized in the Methodist church, her greatest expression of faith was to always follow The Ten Commandments and The Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Myrtle was loved by many, and the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to those who encouraged their family through the years as she courageously faced rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease and stroke, and cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Bizwajit Kar for his years of exceptional care. Throughout her battle with cancer, a number of physicians, nurses, and staff took compassionate care of Myrtle, in particular Dr. Huy Vinh, Dr. Mohamed El-Beheary, and Dr. Timothy Connolly and his partners.
Pallbearers are Myrtle’s grandson Joseph Delgado of San Antonio and nephews Anthony Stringer, Vince Stringer and Tyler Stringer of McComb, MS, David Caulfield and Matthew Caulfield of Hattiesburg, MS, and Vincent Hernandez of Houston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Special Olympics AAA-20 Delegation in San Antonio, TX.
