Sandra Kay (Powell) Garrett was born February 15, 1950 to Lillian Edna Shoaf Moffett and Jonathon Powell in Austin, Texas. Later, her step-father, Lindbergh Moffett Sr., a military man, who came into her life at a young age, adjoining with Lillian, her mother, in matrimony, continued the family with Sandra and her loving siblings. She accepted Christ at a young age. She grew up amongst loving family and friends in various places, including California and Indiana, and lived out her formative years in Houston, Texas where she met and married her High school sweetheart Preston Leigh Garrett III. Together they began to build the foundation of a wonderful family to include two amazing sons and an amazing daughter. They diligently served on ministries together in various churches living a life dedicated to youth ministry. She was a very loyal member to New Light Christian Center Church where she was always ready to serve. Her life’s work was that of a dedicated Nurse, A loving devoted wife of 45 years, a caring, loving and involved mother who had a heart that was as pure as gold, and an awesome grandmother who was always eager to share God’s word, grace, and love to all she encountered. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother Lillian Edna Moffett, her father Lindbergh Moffett, Sr. and a nephew, Bryan Moffett. Left to cherish in her very rich memory, her beloved husband Minister Preston L. Garrett III; her son Elliott K. Garrett and wife Hisae Garrett; her son Emmitt Garrett; her daughter Rachael M. (Garrett) Patrick and husband Ernest Patrick; two lovely granddaughters Sidney Garrett and Madisyn Patrick, and grandson Ernest Joshua Patrick IV; sisters Cheryl Francis and husband Ronald Francis, and Pinkie Henderson; brothers Henry Moffett and wife Carolyn Moffett, Lindbergh Moffett, Jr and wife Cheryl Moffett and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
