In the evening hours of May 7, 2019, God’s Holy Angels safely carried Lockhart Reed from this world of sin, sorrow and pain. He entered God’s Kingdom and his loving embrace. Lockhart was born on March 22, 1930, in Evergreen, Texas, to Mr. Johnnie Walker Reed and Ms. Odena Dirden, who preceded him in death. Lockhart confessed the Lord at an early age and was baptized. Lockhart attended Coldspring High School in Coldspring, TX. He enlisted into the United States Army immediately after school to serve his country as a Sharpshooter Rifleman in the infantry brigade. He was honorably discharged January 30, 1951. He then returned home and received his diploma from Lincoln High School in Coldspring. He received his Truck Driving Training along with his certification and license while serving in the army. Lockhart owned his own truck and worked for several Houston area trucking companies doing long haul driving through various states. He drove trucks for 30+ years. He then went on to retire in 1990. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Annie C. Johnson on March 12, 1955. To this union were born three children Jarvis, Ray and Frederick. Brother Reed had one son, Frederick Reed and one sister, Emma Mae Denson, who preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Annie C. Johnson Reed, son Jarvis L. Reed Sr (wife Darlene), son Ray A Reed (wife Teresa), Doris Viser (daughter), Brenda Dickens (daughter) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and friends.
