Moises Molina

Moises Molina, 79, passed away at his home in Houston, Texas surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer before winning the battle and being called home to be with our Heavenly Father. He was born July 1, 1941 in Grafton, North Dakota.

Moises grew up in Laredo, Texas where he was well known for helping to lead the Laredo Martin High School Tigers to the Final Four in the 4A Basketball State Championship in 1959 along with his brother, Chalo Molina. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Hilda Lozano. They were married in Laredo, TX, later moved to San Antonio and eventually settled in Houston, TX where he spent most of his life. Moises made a career with Southern Pacific Railroad/Union Pacific as a Conductor. Upon retirement, he devoted his life to church, family and friends. Moises was devoted to our Lord and Savior and his faith in our loving God was unwavering. He was a dedicated member of Lakewood Church where he served as a volunteer in several ministries along with his wife.

Moises was always fun to be around often making people laugh with his dry humor and sometimes would be the only one laughing at his jokes. He had a passion for cooking whether it was grilling or preparing a big dinner during the holidays. Moises was well known for his famous mashed potatoes among other savory recipes which when asked about the ingredients, he would respond with “I cannot tell you, it is a secret”. Moises was passionate about life and very energetic whether outside working in the yard, shopping, going to the gym, going for long walks or traveling. He adored his grandsons, Jacob, Blake, and Cole, and was passionate about being a part of their lives at every chance. He was an amazing and devoted father, grandfather, and husband. He was our rock, our mentor, our everything and will be in our hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his father, Augustine Molina Sr., his mother, Margurieta Molina, stepmother, Susie Vallejo, brothers, Gonzalo (Chalo) Molina, Liberto (Beto) Molina and Augustine Molina. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Aurora Molina, daughter Belinda Molina Hamling and husband Edward Hamling, daughter Veronica Molina Watkins, daughter Christina Molina, grandchildren Jacob Ray Hutcherson, Blake Hamling, and Cole Hamling, siblings Gloria Bazaldua, Mary Sauceda, Antonio Molina and wife Adela, Raul Molina and numerous nieces and nephews.
