Mildred Ann Williams, lovingly known as “chicken,” passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2024 at her home in Houston, TX surrounded by her adoring family. She was born on January 23rd, 1943 in Trinity, TX.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Oscar H. and Luella Martin, her four brothers, John, Don, Weldon and Clayton Martin, and sister Beatrice Martin. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Williams, daughter Tia Dickenson and son-in-law Michael Dickenson, son Derek Williams and grandchildren Brayden and Trinity Dickenson. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews and two special Sisters-in-Law Betty Martin and Suzanne Daoust.
Mildred graduated from Trinity High School in 1961, where she fatefully met her beloved husband, Jerry Williams, on a blind date. Their incredible love story lasted for 63 wonderful years. Mildred will forever be remembered as a fiercely loyal and loving wife, mother, and Gammy.
Mildred was a remarkable individual who achieved numerous accomplishments throughout her lifetime. She served as the PTA President for Terrace Elementary, Spring Oaks Middle School, and Spring Woods High School, contributing greatly to the educational community. She was the President of the High School Booster Club, where she tirelessly supported the school's athletic programs. Mildred dedicated four years as the President of the Royal Oaks Garden Club, fostering a love of nature and promoting sustainable practices. As a Girl Scout Leader and Neighborhood Chairman, Mildred positively impacted the lives of many young girls in her community. She was heavily involved in the Theatre club, bringing joy and entertainment to those around her.
The Williams family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Llhanet Zaligan, Mildred's devoted caregiver, who provided exceptional care during her final months. They are also thankful for the outpouring of support from Mildred's friends and family throughout this difficult time.
May Mildred's memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at 13001 Katy Fwy Houston TX, 77079, on Thursday, January 25th, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
