Mildred Jeanette Dunlap Mitchell, age 77, passed away on October 3, 2017. She was born in Parkin, AR, on March 2, 1940 to Thomas Edward Dunlap and Madeline Stepp Dunlap. She was married to Walter Howard Mitchell.
Mildred worked at Baxter Laboratories in Cleveland, MS, and Bolivar County ISD.
She was a loving mother to all. She raised many children in Rosedale, MS, and always helped those less fortunate. Even the earliest stories of Mildred focus on her selflessness and love for family. She is fondly remembered for her caring, gentle manner, as well as her strength. For decades, she was the “Neighborhood Mom” that all the local kids knew would offer them safe haven and a warm meal. She loved spending time with her family and friends. While spending that time with family and friends, she enjoyed playing card games and was very fond of bingo. She spent the majority of her life being a devoted and loving matriarch for generations. If one had to choose a single word to describe her – it would be “love.” She was pure love. Her family will never be the same without her, and they will forever be better people because of her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Madeline and Thomas Dunlap, her husband Walter Howard Mitchell, grandson Jonathan Blake Mitchell and great nephew Christopher James Credille.
She is survived by her sister Louise Dunlap Birnberg and husband Gerald of Houston, TX, brother Thomas Edward Dunlap, Jr. and wife Harriet of Coldwater, MS. She is also survived by her six children: Michael Ingle and wife Sen of Brandon, MS; Al Ingle and wife Ruby of Helena, AR; Cheryl Bassie of Houston, TX; Mitzi McCain and husband Mike of Cleveland, MS; Theresa Mitchell of Houston, TX and Cindy Mitchell of Houston, TX, her niece Terry Clem Credille and husband Jim of Houston, TX as well as her 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 stepchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Memorial Herman Hospital.
