He is preceded in death by his parents, Geronimo and Candida Cantu and beloved sister Lillian Cantu Johnson.
Left to cherish Miguel's memory is his wife of 48 years, Virginia Ayala Cantu; two sons, Angel Mario Cantu (Noemi), Miguel Angel Cantu Jr. (Tiffany); and five loving grandchildren; Cierra Jade Cantu, Angel Rene Cantu, Mikaele Elizabeth Cantu, Luke Cantu and Ethan Cantu. He is also survived by his two brothers; Jerry Cantu (Sherry), Javier Cantu (Andrie) and his brother in law Edward Johnson and many friends and relatives.
Miguel was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his sons and grandchildren, he was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. Miguel graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1969. He also attended the University of Houston for 2 years. He retired from Exxon after 35 years of service.
Miguel was a very simple man, he had a passion for music, he loved all types! His favorite was Tejano, Ranchera and the oldies. He also liked to plant chili serrano and habanero and the plants would produce good chili! He loved being outside listening to his music and working on his Sudoku Puzzles.
Miguel was a hard worker and provider he would say he got that from his parents. He held many jobs during his teenage years. He worked a lot but always attended Angel's football games and Miguel's baseball games. He was a proud father and Popo loved his sons and grandchildren unconditionally.
He will be greatly missed but never forgotten because the music we hear will remind us of him and his spirit will always be with us.
