Michael H. Sweeney

Mike graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1963 where he met his future wife of 59 years Rita Tippitt. They married June 26, 1965 and went on to raise two wonderful boys, Brian and Michael.

He went to work right out of high school for Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1963 working various technician roles for the company. He retired in 2009 after putting in 46 years of service.

Mike enjoyed coaching little league while his boys were growing up, and spending time at the deer lease with his family and friends. Mike also enjoyed guns, collecting several over the years, He also enjoyed going to the gun range and gun shows in his spare time. After retirement he worked on the daily crossword puzzle out of the local newspaper, and watched a lot of the history channel, along with old westerns and forensic file documentaries. His favorite thing to do was turning on the war documentaries and falling asleep until someone dared to change the channel.

He was preceded in death by his son Brian, Father Neil Sweeney Jr, Mother Willie Dee Sweeney, brother Neil Sweeney III. and his wife Sandra, sister Maureen Sweeney, and numerous family and friends.

He has survived by his wife Rita Tippitt Sweeney, son Michael Sweeney and wife Deborah, and grandchildren Rusty, Randy, Wesley along with their spouses and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Sandra Crawford and Douglas Tippitt for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days. Both Sandra and Douglas have assisted in errands and provided transportation over the last few months for both Mike and Rita.

Family and friends are invited to attend services at Forest Park Lawndale at 6900 Lawndale St., Houston TX on Saturday April 26, 2025 at 1:00pm. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00pm
