Michael Smith

He was born to Lorena Beatrice Shepard and Mitchell Smith in Houston, Texas on June 6th, 1949. He would then be raised in the Houston area where he graduated from Jack Yates High School. He completed 2 years at Grantham School of Engineering and fought in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972 in the Army. Michael worked 23 plus years as an Electronics Technician at the U.S. Postal Service in North Houston, Texas.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Brenda Smith, his brothers Frank Thomas Jr., and Anthony Eugene Smith, his daughter Shounta, his sons Patrick and Mitchell, his step son Gerald Hill II and his children Karis & Trey, and his 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend of 40 plus years, Donna Johnson, Keonna, De'Kendria, and a host of friends who were like family to him.

A visitation for Michael will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champion, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 2, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77068. A committal service will occur Friday, June 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at External Service Location, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
