Michael lived in Houston, TX with his wife, Donna, and his son, David. Michael passed away on January 14, 2021.
Michael Poe was born on December 30, 1948, in Houston, TX to parents Roy Hamilton Poe, and Margaret Gore. Michael had two siblings, Gayla and Charles, "Randy."
Michael grew up in Houston, playing baseball and football and working on the family ranch, attending Cy-Fair High School during his teenage years. Not long after graduating from Cy-Fair, Michael enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, beginning his service in 1969 until 1971. He was extremely proud of his time in service to our country and held a fierce love for America.
Upon completion of his service, Michael returned home to work with his father at Poe Electric for a number of years until a decision to travel the country he fought for. Michael traveled state to state, working the odd job and simply exploring the USA from coast to coast.
Michael had an amazing passion for music, always singing. He found himself in Nashville, TN in his thirties, pursuing his love of country music and songwriting. In 1983, Michael met Donna. It was love at first sight. For the next five years, Michael and Donna were inseparable. In 1988, it was Donna who proposed and they were married on October 27, 1988. They lived happily in Nashville until 1993 when they made the decision to move to Houston, TX. On December 31, 1993, Michael and Donna brought their son, David, into the world. Michael was a devout Christian and family man. He loved his wife and son and loved them completely. Michael's heart was one of giving, kindness, forgiveness, and absolute love. He would always put others before himself and believed in helping others in their time of need. He held a strong faith in Christ throughout his life. He loved the Lord and believed truly in the power of prayer and the grace of God.
Michael will be laid to rest on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, at 2:00 pm.
