On January 21, 1981, Michael Henry Graves was born to Michael Henry Neil and Karen Sue Graves in Houston Texas. Michael was the oldest of two children and was fondly known to his family and friends as “Big Mike” and Bruh Bruh to his younger brother Matthew. Michael sadly passed away on September 19, 2024.
At the very young age of 14 Michael was diagnosed with a brain tumor, but would eventually overcome this and become a cancer survivor. During this battle, Michael was introduced to camp periwinkle, which allowed him to meet other kids going through the same things he was and form bonds that would last a lifetime.
Michael attended school in Aldine independent school district and graduated from Aldine senior high school in 1999. In 2004 Michael suffered the loss of his mother and gracefully transitioned into a parent figure for his younger brother Matthew. Michael always worked hard to provide for his brother and himself.
In 2021 Michael was hospitalized due to a spinal injury that caused complications from the cancer treatments he had previously received. Michael was no longer able to walk and began using a wheelchair for everyday life. In lieu of this, Michael still lived life to the fullest and did not let this get him down. Michael continued doing what motivated him and what he loved. He remained a camp counselor at
camp periwinkle, he loved the Tennessee Titans, Wrestling and most of all, he loved his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Henry Neal and Karen Sue Graves and Grandparents; Andrew Jr. and Ida Mae Graves and Paul and Pearlie Mae Neal.
Michael is survived by brother Matthew Graves; Aunts, Beverly Blake, Ruthie Land (Gnelton), Edna Graves (Paul), Ossie Graves; Uncles, Dennis Graves, Wilbur Graves (Peggy), Sammy Graves, William and Phillip Neal and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
