Michael Ciaravino MD

Dr. Michael Edward Ciaravino, age 56, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 2nd of March 2021, after a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. Michael was surrounded by love from his family and friends in the days prior. Michael was born in Long Island, New York, on the 10th of February 1965, to Jerome and Pamalin Ciaravino. Michael was cherished by everyone who knew him, and he changed the lives of many. A fearless leader, many sought his guidance, both professional and personal. We are blessed with the memory of his fun-loving spirit, hardworking attitude, and passion for life. He was kind and generous to all.

Dr. Ciaravino had a strong interest in art, beauty, fashion, and design. This coupled with an aptitude for science and a desire to help others led him on a direct pursuit to a career in plastic surgery. Graduating with honors from Tulane University and the University of Florida College of Medicine, he completed his plastic surgery training in Houston. He also studied reconstructive breast surgery at M.D. Anderson.

Dr. Ciaravino was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He was a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Medical Association, and American College of Surgeons. He was voted one of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons by The Research Council of America and has been listed as one of America’s Top Doctors by the Castle-Connelly. Dr. Ciaravino was also an active member of LEAD - a distinguished group of plastic surgeons recognized for their expertise in breast augmentation. Today, Dr. Ciaravino is highly regarded as one of the world’s leading breast surgeons.

Michael is survived by his spouse, Michelle Ciaravino and twin daughters, Gianna and Angelina. He is also survived by his parents Jerome and Pamalin Ciaravino, his brothers Robert (Amy) and Joseph (Melissa), and the following nieces and nephews, Danielle, Bryce, Kendall, Ty, Addison and Ainsley.

Regardless of the commitment and dedication to a thriving medical practice, being a dad was what he considered his greatest accomplishment. Michael loved his daughters more than anything in this world, and he was an outstanding father. He supported his girls in all that they did and showed them unconditional love. Caring and supportive, loving and kind, Michael had many friends from all over who treasured him dearly. His legacy will live on and be remembered forever.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 8th of March, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

The Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated at one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 9th of March, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston. Guests may also view the livestream of the service by clicking "Join Livestream" below.

The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed toward MD Anderson Cancer Center.
