Michael Louis Adamo

Mike was born on June 27, 1953 to parents Dr. Dominick Charles Adamo, MD & Nettie Mae Todaro Adamo of Houston, Texas. Growing up in the Houston area, Mike spent his early years in Garden Oaks and later Hunter’s Grove/Memorial area where he attended St. Theresa’s Catholic School and St. Thomas High School, graduating in 1971. After high school he attended Louisiana State University and the University of St. Thomas.

Mike was a natural born salesman who thrived in industrial sales for such companies as T.L. Walker, Sepco, Motion Industries, and Industrial Bearing & Services Company (IBS). He loved his customers and his customers couldn’t help but love him. With his creative mind, entrepreneurial drive, and boundless energy, one job was never enough. Some of his side ventures included selling wholesale sporting goods, patenting and launching an innovative boating product, and even holding annual saltwater fishing tournaments.

He was adventurous and mechanically inclined from a young age, constantly taking things apart to figure out how they work and rebuild them. Going fast was usually his number one goal—which he achieved by building everything from a wooden go cart and mini bike to a Z-28 sports car all by himself!

As a teen, Mike was his dad’s number one hand on the family’s cattle ranch just outside of Hempstead where he worked weekends and every summer, doing everything from branding to vaccinating, and even castrations. He also became an excellent hunter, honing his skills at the family’s hunting ranch in Uvalde where his dad put him in charge of dressing all the deer. But when the family bought a bay house at Jamaica Beach in his twenties, he fell totally in love with fishing and was never prouder than the day he purchased his own 23ft Mako bay boat.

One of his greatest joys in life was being a dad and raising the apple of his eye, his daughter, Rachel. From watching endless Disney movies and riding bikes to helping with drama club and kids church activities—he enjoyed doing whatever made his little girl happy. He loved the Lord and spent many years with Rachel attending and serving at Tomball Bible Church.

Mike was strong and lived a full, active life even while battling and beating two bouts of cancer. He and his wife, Susan, enjoyed spending time with their 2 spoiled Labrador Retrievers, antiquing, hiking, birding, and attending countless sporting events and school ceremonies to support his step grandsons, Chip and Blake. He also took every opportunity he could to fish and hunt with them, passing down his rich knowledge of the great outdoors. Another great source of joy for Mike was volunteering for Meals On Wheels every week and getting to visit with the seniors he served.

Mike was one of the kindest humans God has ever made, and he will be missed greatly by the many people he touched. He genuinely loved serving others and brought joy and encouragement everywhere he went. He will forever be known for his big heart, zest for life, and infectious laugh.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, Susan Glenn Adamo of Baytown, Texas; daughter, Rachel Marie Adamo of Lubbock, Texas; brother Dominick Charles Adamo, Jr. (Nick) of Fayetteville, Texas; brother Vincent Paul Adamo (Vince) and wife, Donna Mandola Adamo of Marshall, Texas; nephew Dominick Charles Adamo and wife Chelsea Calcatera Adamo of Fort Collins, Colorado; niece Mary Kathryn Adamo Tiller and husband Timothy Justin Tiller (T.J.) of Elysian Fields, Texas; great nephews and nieces Vincent James Adamo, Julianne West Tiller, Scout Grace Adamo, and William Lucas Tiller; step daughter Heather Hartless Buchanan and husband Jeffery Lee Buchanan (Jeff) of Lufkin, Texas; and step grandsons Jeffery Lee Buchanan, II (Chip) and Blake Joshua Buchanan.

The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to the outstanding caregivers who treated Mike with such tenderness and respect throughout the end of his life, especially Tammy Johnson of Faith Community Hospice, Elise Belton, and Ruby Boutte. May you be richly blessed for your kindness and selfless service.

As an unassuming gentleman who put others before himself and never wanted to impose on anyone, Mike has requested that instead of a traditional service, friends and family gather casually to share happy memories and celebrate his life. This memorial gathering will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5-7pm at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Rd., Houston, Texas 77055. All who had the privilege to know this wonderful man are welcome to attend.
