Growing up in the same home as her mother had in Briargrove, she made many lifelong friends during her preschool years at Pooh Corner. “MC,” as she was called by many, graduated from the Kinkaid School in 2005 and continued her education at Southern Methodist University. She graduated with a BA in Marketing and began her career in commercial real estate in Houston. At her time of death, she was a valued member at the SignAd team, also in Houston.
In 2016, after being matched, she finally agreed to meet her future husband, Justin, on her birthday. After conversing for a year (yes, Meredith Claire played hard to get!) they agreed to date. They became engaged on her birthday in 2018 and married the next year.
Meredith Claire came into the world with a strong will and strong opinions. There was no hiding her expressions nor opinions. Her “eye-rolls” were legendary. You always knew just what she was thinking – her expressions gave her away. Stirring the pot at family gatherings always made every meal an adventure. She had an infectious laugh and was a loyal friend to all.
She loved cooking for Justin, vacations with her family to Seaside and Estes Park, as well as her dog, Max. She and Justin had settled into their home, especially enjoying the outdoors from their back porch. They had recently joined a couples class at Second Baptist Church where she had been Baptized as a preteen, and appreciated the fellowship they found there.
In addition to her husband and parents, Meredith Claire leaves behind her brother, Marshall, and her sister, Melanie Grace (Lanie). She is also survived by her grandmother, Sonya Markham; aunts and uncles, Susan and Jim Macanliss, and Leslie and Roy Olsen. Her cousins, Caroline Macanliss, Stuart Macanliss, Meghan Edmonson, Kelsey Countryman and Kaitlyn Edmonson, also mourn her passing.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share remembrances of Meredith during a reception from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 12th of May, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of May, in the Sanctuary of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the nearby Deacons’ Parlor.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Marshall Markham, Stuart Macanliss, Brad Huff and Brandon Green.
We invite you to take a few moments share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with her family by selecting the "Add a Memory" icon below.
In lieu of customary remembrances, her family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in her name be directed to the charity of one's choice.
“Our darling Meredith was a strong Christian and was joyfully welcomed into heaven by her grandparents, Joy and Marshall Macanliss and Stanley Markham.”
