Melvin was born December 30, 1943 in Ponca City, OK to Melvin & Erma Dean (Wright) Morris. He grew up in Kaw City, OK and attended Kaw City Grade School. He attended Ponca City High School.
He married Carol Marie Wathor on December 14, 1963 at the Catholic Church in Newkirk, OK. After living in Ponca City a few years, they moved to Houston, TX. Mac, as he liked to be called, worked various jobs before becoming a truck driver. He loved life on the road until he became a father. In 1974, Dennis Edward was born. Two and a half years later, they welcomed Gene Dwayne to the family.
He loved being a father and spending time with his boys meant everything to him. Mac spent many hours coaching and attending baseball and football games. Life was complete with the birth of his granddaughter, Madeleine Grace. He loved being a Papa. This was evident by all the pictures of Maddie throughout the home.
Mac was a long-time member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He was very active in Council 6950 during the seventeen years he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mac was also active in the parish and loved to prepare coffee and doughnuts for parish members. He carried a wonderful smile and was great to be around. He will be greatly missed by his brother Knights.
Mac is survived by his wife of the home, Carol, sons Dennis Morris, Gene Morris, wife Mackie and daughter, Maddie.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
