Mavis C. Currie

Mavis “Tassie” Corrine Currie, 89, of Coldspring, TX, left her worldly bonds to greet her beloved in Heaven on June 7th, 2022. She was a kind and faithful soul, a devoted Wife, Mom & Little Granny, a talented seamstress for all the children who crossed her doorway, if you didn’t find her at her sewing table, you could surely find her in her seat at church come Sunday morning. Born in Marthaville, LA during the depression she was an avid bargain shopper who could always find the best deals. She was truly a character with a feisty spirit, and she will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents Perry and Della Green, sisters Verona, Gladys, Clodeal, Peralee and Gwen and brothers E.F. and Gale, husband of 50 years James Currie, daughters Rhonda Shamoon and Deanna Kaula, grandson Jeremy Walters and great grandson Colton Shamoon.

Left to cherish her memories are daughter Dawn (Larry) Walters, daughter Jene’ (Tony) Newsom and son Monte (Shelley) Thompson; grandson Shawn (Robyn) Shamoon, great grandchildren Justyn (Sadie) Shamoon, great great grandchildren Brady, Braxdyn and Libby, great granddaughter Shalyn Shamoon, great great grandchildren Coltyn, Skylnn and Kaysyn; granddaughter Miranda (Jason Sanford), great grandchildren Brett, Garett, Kaylee (Ricky) Lynn, and Morgan; grandson Jason (Kayla Walters), great grandchildren Rebecca, Taylor, Bailey, Brooklyn and Tony, granddaughter Jennifer Walters, great grandsons Nate and Aedan; granddaughter Jana Smith and great grandson Jace, grandson Josh (Destiny) Smith, great granddaughter Ava; grandson Ryan Thompson and great granddaughter Julia, grandson Michael (Miriah) Thompson, great granddaughters Kaylyn and Kyree, grandson Jonathon Thompson; granddaughter Chera Atkinson, great granddaughter Kaitlin, granddaughter Charli Atkinson, great granddaughters Daniell, Sarah and Bria, grandson Bradley (Kendra) Atkinson, great granddaughters Olivia and Madison, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mavis will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 13, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A burial will occur Monday, June 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Rosewood Memorial Park, 2602 S. Houston Ave., Humble, Texas 77396.
