Once upon a time, there was man named Maurice Eugene Blackburn and a woman named Lois Evelyn Gustine. They had a 4 year old little girl, by the name of Lois Jean, but then there appeared a boy, named Maurice Wayne Blackburn, who was born on May 18, 1943. After Wayne, there came Delores Gail, Nancy Elaine, and Deborah Anne. They all lived at 633 Crenshaw Road in Pasadena, Texas. Wayne attended Genoa Elementary, South Houston Junior High and then in 1961 he graduated from South Houston Senior High School. His dad taught him how to fish and hunt which soon became something Wayne loved to do as well. Wayne and his friends even created geese decoys to hunt in the paddies in Sheridan, Texas. He appreciated the beauty of horses, flowers, gardens and everything in life. He loved his Uncle Ray and Aunt Rene in North Zulch as well as all of his family very dearly.
Wayne worked for Trans Texas for 37 years which was bought out by Texas International and later was bought out by Continental Airlines.
In July 1962, he married Wanda Ann Mize. They had two wonderful children, Karen Denise and Mark Wayne who grew up to be fine young people. Mark has two sons, Bryant and Carson Lee. Bryant has a daughter named Riley Ann. When Wayne got ill, Karen and Mark stayed with him.
On July 12, 1974, Wayne married Linda Gail Voorhees-McGeehe and they had a beautiful little girl named Kristy Lynn who grew into a fine young woman. On August 4th, 2001, she married a fine young man named Erik Groth. Wayne and Erik thought the world of each other. Erik also stayed with Wayne throughout his illness. Kristy and Erik had Taylor, Makenzie and a little girl named Heather who Wayne loved dearly. He would always tell me the many things Heather would do.
Wayne was single for 21 years until he married our wonderful Lily Pu on June 18, 2000 at their beautiful home on Treaschwig Road. He was so excited to be with Lily Pu. Lily brought her 3 beautiful children into our family; Michael, Lillian, and Mimi. Lillian married Allen Tseng and has 2 children Reagan and Sydney. Mimi is married to Brian Chao and has 2 children Grayson and Morgan. Michael married Thy and have a daughter named Emily. All of the grandchildren would call him Wayne PAPA. He and his sisters welcomed all of them into our family with love.
Lily brought so much laughter and fun into Wayne’s life. One of their favorite past times was travelling. Billy and I even joined them on many cruises. We all went to Alaska in 1999. Then in 2006 we went on the fall foliage cruise in New York and in 2010 to Banff Canada. Lily exposed us to many wonderful and new experiences to us and Wayne. One of the fondest memories I have, is the many times we would go eat Chinese food in Bellaire with them. Lily’s joy in everything was contagious and she became very precious to us all.
And so, there are many stories, I am sure each of you could tell. Wayne was loved by all. He had close friends, too many too name here, work associates, hunting friends, fishing friends, his storage facility friends, neighbors and the many people in his life he touched. The comments on Facebook in itself sums up the love he had for everyone. He loved his garden, his plants, flowers and cooking. He was good at it all and he lived a full life.
