Matilda Garcia Peña, 83, passed into eternal rest on May, 11 2021. She was born March 14, 1938 in Navasota, Texas to parents Pedro Garcia and Guadalupe Sanchez Garcia. Matilda was a single mom who raised three daughters alone, but still managed to make holidays and birthdays magical. She was cook and chef assistant at Marriott Hotel. Cooking and devoting her time and energy in loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her passions.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sister, one grandson, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Patricia B. Thurlow, Irma Peña, Linda P. Adame, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, sisters: Lucy Ostiguin, Janie Ramirez, Maria Anderson, Josefina Garcia, brothers Ysidro Garcia and Hilario Garcia.
Family and friends will gather for services at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 on Wednesday, May6 19, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the funeral service to begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
