Mary McKinley Watson born March 11, 1927 passed away at the age of 87 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Mississippi and grew up in Tuscumbia, AL. She met George Watson in Texas, fell in love, married, and traveled the US for many years. Most people claimed she and him looked like movie stars and I, her daughter, would agree, having learned from a young age how to dance upon their feet to big band music. In 1961, she and George stopped traveling, settled in Muscle Shoals, AL, close to family, built a home, where her children grew up. George lived out his years in that home and small town. Mary remarried Ike Watson and moved to Houston, TX, where he later passed in 1995. Mary never re-married again. She was one of the most intelligent women I have ever known. I have secretly smiled and laughed often at her degree of effective cunning over the years. I wondered sometimes at exactly what secrets my she must truly hold yet untold and why she never wrote them to paper. She would have been a truly magnificent author for what I do know. For what she has done in true life no writer could ever match in a novel. She did her best to love everyone, and would never allow anyone to say a mean or jealous word when it came to her family. She was an incredibly beautiful woman who forever seemed ageless. She loved her family and showed us all in everything she did, yes, she might not have been completely perfect, and who is? She will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by our father George Watson, our Step-Father, Ike Watson. Left to miss her forever are her children: Mary Anne Darby, Bettye Jean Watson, and Darlene Watson Serrano; son-in-Law; Luis A. Serrano; grandchildren: John S. Serrano, Zachariah A. Serrano and Amanda Shaw; one great grandchild, Eric Shaw; nephew, Claybourne Vess; nieces, Marilyn Watson and Irene Morrow and many many others. We now reluctantly and sadly say good-bye and Godspeed to a beautiful being. We love you and will miss you dear Mother.
