Grandma it has been a year since you went home. This last year was hard. I needed you so many times but you were no longer here. I held onto that last voicemail as long as I could, just to hear your voice. I finally cried. It was hard to let you go. I still can't go to the cemetery, not now at least. I miss you so much. You were a mother to me , more than a grandmother.

Grandma you have ben gone for one year today. I felt you looking down at me today. I am lighting this candle to remind you how much you mean to me. I miss talking with you everyday. This has been a hard year for me with out you by my side during church. I really miss all the times we had dinner just because. I really enjoyed watching you sing music with all your heart. You did so many thing that would touch my heart. You were my second mom that went above and beyond. Grandma I would like to thank you for everything you have done for me. I will see you one day in Heaven. Love You and Miss You So Much Love Chasity

My dearest Mother,a year has come since your passing. I don`t know where to start on how I miss you. But I`LL try. I never thought that you would be leaving us to be with our Lord and with other past love ones. I find it hard to go by your house because you are not there anymore.How I wish to hear you say:Ray cut my yard, Ray clean out my flower bed, Ray can you trim that tree, Ray I`m hungary what did you make to eat? Take me to the store or I need a ride to church. But what I really miss cooking something for her to eat and sitting with her, talking with her as she ate. Even though we are a big family, there were many times Mom felt alone. Well with the promist of our Lord, she will never be alone, sick, hungary or in pain. Nothing but true Happiness! I Love Mom! Grandma tomorrow is my dad's birthday and uncle Joe's.  I can't believe just last year you were celebrating we us on my dad's 60th birthday. I really enjoyed dancing our last dance together.  I knew you were really hurting but you kept dancing. Oh those were the good days.  I am lighting this candle for you and uncle Joe because I know yall are looking down at us and praying for us. Grandma I know yall are seeing what my mom is going through.  Grandma I ask you to ask God to take care of my mom.  Only he can heal her. In Jesus name we pray amen. I can't believe it's almost been a year since you went home. I miss you sooooo much grandma. You were more like my mom then my grandma. There have been so many times I needed to talk to you. I know you're in a better place but what I wouldn't do for just one more day with you. I miss you so much. I haven't mourned yet, I guess it's different for everyone. Grandma I thought I would light a candle for you today.  Bella and I said a rosary for you when you passed.  I sure you seen us. I really missed seeing you sit next to me at church yesterday  but I know you were there in spirit.  I cherish all those last few years we had going to church ,shopping, and going out to eat and watching you enjoying your Mexican  music. We had so many good memories together. I know it's really going to be hard next month for the whole family because you will be gone for 1 year. Grandma I can't believe you have been gone almost 1 year. I had so many good memories with you.  I know you see me crying for you every day. Grandma this is the first time I have been able to write something to you. This pass year has been really hard without you. I can't believe you will be gone for 1 year. I know you are up there with grandpa praying for all of the Sustaita.  I am pretty sure yall are also up there dancing.  I know you will be looking down at me this weekend when  I am planting roses in your garden. The girls and Dominick and I really miss you grandma. My deepest condolences to the family.  I remember when I was a young boy growing in the neighborhood playing with the boys and she always had a smile and a cool drink to enjoy.  Mrs Sustaita was a wonderful lady and will be missed dearly.  I am thankful for having known her in this life.

I met this sweet old lady one day and later as I got to know her I remember a story she told me. She said, Melissa when I was very young my mother died and I stayed without a mother. She said, I knew this lady who had some daughter's and I would sit on the porch of her house. I would watch her as she sowed dresses for her daughter's and I wanted a dress just like them.
 By the time she was this far in to the story tears begin to roll down my face. She went on to talk about how she came over to lady's house almost everyday and loved sitting there just talking to this lady while she sowed. They spoke about things that she wanted to share with her mother but had no mom.
 I sat there patiently listening with hurt in my heart because I realized she had took the time to open her heart and home to me. She then said, one day she went over to this lady's house and this lady had made her a dress. But this dress wasn't like the dresses she had made for her daughter's but it was one just like the hers; the one she was wearing. That she said, made her feel so special because she made her a dress just like hers. Well that sweet old lady that shared the story was Mary Sustaita . And the lady that made her that dress turned out to be my great grandmother on my father's side Agapita Gonzales. You just never know the lives you touch by such small amount of love that you're willing to share. I love you Mrs. Sustaita and thank you for accepting me as part of your family.

 We never know where we will be but God does. He knew 70 something years later I would be sitting there with Mrs. Sustaita on her kitchen table and she would be sowing into me. The love you give can impact a life tremendously. I was so honored to have heard this story that I had to share. Jesus puts the right people in your path if we would just be patient and wait.

Here it is Jenny, never forget how much your grandmother loved you. That love will carry you a long ways. I love you and Christy so much, may God comfort you and all on this glorious day that your grandmother is going home to meet the very hand that crafted her in her mothers womb. Tia Mary, my favorite memories are terrorizing through the house with Ray, when all of you lived on Hirsch Rd. I always had so much fun there. You let us run buck wild & just let us be kids. I remember you sending me and Ray to go buy ice cream cones down the road, must've been getting in your hair by then:) I loved the coke machine Uncle Richard had outside and I could have all the pop I wanted. I lived out in the boonedocks so I didn't have access to all those goodies Ray had. When we moved away to California and would come to visit the family in Texas I couldn't wait to come to your house. My husband Tom and I enjoyed it when you came to Bakersfield and you met us in Morro Bay with my mom and grandma Nellie. Man did we drink some wine that night. We always enjoyed having you here and it made my Dad Treno very happy. I also remember calling you out of the blue one day because I had had a dream about you, you were in a bright light with the backdrop of the virgin mary. I asked you what you thought it meant, I thought maybe I'd died and came back!! lol!! You said you had no idea but I had better say a couple of Hail Mary's and a rosary. ha-ha. Tia Mary, I will miss talking on the phone with you. You made me and my family so happy every time you came to California I will always remember your soft voice and tour energy to dance. Grandma, I miss you already . The house is not the same without you here. You would be surprised at how many lives you touched. Proverbs 22 says a good name is more desirable than great riches. You weren't a millionaire but you were worth more than a million. You taught me to turn the other cheek when somebody did me wrong. You taught me how to make tortillas. You taught me to enjoy life. You taught me to pray when I was hurting. You left me with a lot of memories that I will always cherish. You are already missed by me. I never got to take you out to eat since I been back home. You left too early but I'm glad I got to see your face and hear you bless me everyday I was there .

My deepest condolences to my ex husband Arthur, and all the Sustaita Family we shared many years with your mother and her house where everyone called it home. I am grateful she is reunited with her husband her son and parents she is living in paradise. In days of darkness keep looking to the Lord for guidance God Bless you all.

My husband, Jesse Gomez, has shared so many wonderful
memories with me about growing up around the Sustaitas as Frank's little brother and the many memories he has of hanging out with Arthur. He has so many fond memories of Mrs. Sustaita as do I. She was always warm and welcoming with a smile on her face. Our sincere condolences to our sister in law Barbara and the entire family. We are praying for God to shower you all with His unfailing love, peace and comfort during this time.

My condolences go out to all of the Sustaita Family.....Rick & Lisa, Arthur, Joe and Sylvia, Barbara and Frank, Ray and Maria....all of the grand children, great grandchildren, and everyone who loved and knew Mary.  She was a great Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend.  I will always remember her watching all of the grandchildren (including mine), when we went out....and also cooking us tamales on Christmas and Menudo on New years.
