Mary Eula Smelker, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends, went to meet her husband of 53 years, Johnny, at the heavenly gates on October 29, 2014. She was a vibrant lady who loved the color pink, pretty clothes, chocolate and a good cup of coffee. She loved her church, Immanuel United Church of Christ in Spring, TX also her friends and neighbors, who she spoke of so often. She won a bet at 96 after riding a Harley and that same year, appeared in the Dickins on Main Christmas Parade in Boerne, Texas. Her favorite pastime was watching the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Astros. She was so excited to see the Astro's in action when she attended her first professional baseball game at the ripe age of 98. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Smelker and son, James Smelker. Her memories will forever be cherished by her surviving relatives: daughter, Nancy Bernarduci and husband James; grandchildren: Mary Parker, John Dvorak and wife Cheryl, Thomas Dvorak, Susanne Stewart and husband James, Caroline Smelker; step grandchildren: Wendy Johnston and husband Mike, Stacy Bernarduci, Shelly Koteras and husband Mike; great-grandchildren: James M. Stewart, Jessica Champagne and husband Brooks, Tara Davis and husband Jacob, John David Dvorak, Terry Parker, Jonathan Smelker; step great grandchildren: Chris Johnston and wife Tanya, Jessica Donia, Rachel and Jordon Koteras; great great grandchildren: Emmy and Jamison Stewart, Kayden and Palin Champagne, Kayla, Hanna and Sophia Donia; Beloved caregivers: Dorothy Zambrano, and daughter Rachelle Arrington.
