Mary Margaret Esser Morrison, 101, born in Boonville Missouri on December 9, 1912, passed away peacefully at her home on January 5, 2014. Mary was one of six children born to Henry Esser and Annetta Fuser. Although she was born in Missouri, she later lived on a family farm in Topeka Kansas. She met and married Thomas Cross "TC" Morrison on May 10, 1937 and moved to Baytown, Texas. They soon moved to the North Channel area "North Shore" where they custom designed and built their own home and resided in it for over 60 years.
Mary, a seamstress, worked in a dress shop in Baytown, Texas in her early years and also at Humble Oil. She was also an Interior decorator and was involved in all of her husband's business deals when it came to choosing paint colors, fabric and so on, as she was the creative one. She also hosted many parties at her home in North Shore and at her summer home in Beach City, Texas.
Mary was a devout Catholic. She, along with several others, donated and raised the funds necessary to build Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Galena Park, Texas. She was a very active member of the church during her lifetime. Some would say it was her "second" home.
There was an adventurous side to her as well. She enjoyed anything on "wheels" from motorcycles to golf carts and down to her scooter at home, Mary was a lady on the go. As an avid hunter, she could be found at the deer lease every weekend, which eventually led to her and TC purchasing a ranch outside of Hondo, Texas. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to many destinations, and most would not know that at the age of "72" she shot an elephant in Africa.
Mary was a mother to three children, whom she loved dearly. She would often say, they are all different but I love them! She remained saddened by the loss, many years ago, of her daughter Mary Ann.
She will so dearly be missed by everyone, especially her family. We know that she is now in the hands of her maker Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Mary, is survived by her two sons Tommy Morrison and daughter-in-law Anna of Beach City, Texas, Robert Morrison and daughter-in-law Wanda of Highlands, Texas. She also had one nephew Pat Noonan of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren: Vince Brown, Celeste Brown Harris, Susan Morrison Bell, Kirt Morrison, Eric Prakta, Angela Morrison, and Alecia Morrison.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM at Advantage Howard-Glendale Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima catholic Church 1705 8th Street Galena Park, TX. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
