She was born on October 15, 1924 in Mobile, Alabama. Mary moved to Houston in 1934. She attended Lamar High School where she met the love of her life, Robert Ehler. She was married to him for 22 years before he suddenly passed away in 1967.
Mary was first and foremost a full time wonderful mom of 5 children. She worked hard throughout her life. She and her husband owned Ehler Printing Company for 10 years. After his death, she sold the company and began working for Katy ISD. For 18 years, she was the secretary to the principal, Maurice Wolfe, at Addicks Elementary. After retirement from Wolfe, she spent the next 20 years as a receptionist at her daughters dance school, Carol Ehler Dance School.
Mary lived life to the fullest. Although she faced many challenges in her life she chose to make life grand! Mary was a do it herself independent woman and there was nothing she wouldn't try. She loved to be with her family. They were her pride and joy in life. She loved to read, sew, travel, sing and dance. She even owned her own wave runner and was thrilled to snow ski into her 70's. She loved to joke around and always wanted to help with whatever she could do. She was a founding member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church where she volunteered in the resale shop and served as a Eucharistic minister.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ehler, her mother and step father, Mary Louise and David Holman, her father Jerome Wilson, and her son-in-law, Chuck Talley.
She is survived by her children, Mary Anne Haskett, Butch& Kathy Adams, Carol Talley, Robert & Stormi Ehler, Jeanine Pawelek all of Houston, Tx and her brother, David & Norinne Holman of Rockport, Tx., 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, from 5:00-9:00 with rosary at 8:00pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 12 at 10:30am with burial following at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
